Pasture Notes, Wednesday June 7, 2006

Tonights Bible study was at North Crow as the ladies have gone to Devon for convention. The study was on 2 Chronicles 24 - Josiah. George stayed home as he was wore out from working every day this week. A lot of us were coughing and hacking, stupid cold just won't go away.

This afternoon we started finding baby chicks, but no Mama Hen. Finally Cora found Mama Hen in a closet in the camper. We never noticed the door was open, but she sure found herself a nice hidey hole! She has 7 or so hatched already and a bunch more eggs. We might have to take the eggs away if they don't show signs of life pretty soon. The Red and Black hen under the juniper has also hatched some chicks, 5 I think. Her's are all black except for one grey one. Mama duck still has 10 babies and we are continuing to keep her in the "killing pen" for safety.
